Herd Sires & Semen
Our Laue Charolais Ranch Sires Are Built on Generations of Excellence
At Laue Charolais Ranch, we carefully select our herd sires to complement and supplement one another for generation after generation. Because our breeding program takes a long-term view, we have the luxury of sampling a variety of sire lines — from the popular to the obscure — and distilling them to suit both our needs and the needs of our customers.
Here are some examples from our current herd sire lineup. Semen from a specific sire is available where noted. To purchase semen, please contact us directly.
Current Black Sires
LCL Battalion 613D
CCA#: 713247
Damsire: LCL Coaltown 303N
Battalion, along with his sons and daughters, are the pinnacle of our revolutionary Black Charolais breeding program. A standout at weaning, he represented the “Black Charolais Battalion” as our 2017 Denver Stock Show display bull. In production, he has excelled as a sire, with moderate birthweights and traditional Charolais performance. Sons have sold for up to $34,000 from our bullpen, and his daughters are collector’s items. Two sons and one grandson have already become Laue Ranch herdsires.
LCL Platoon 949G
CCA#: 789322
Damsire: Tuff Enuff 947W
Our lead son of Battalion, Platoon is now seeing heavy service as the next generation replacement for his sire. The Platoon offspring excel at growth and style, and his first daughters in production are impressive. He features a double pedigree shot of the Celine 12T female, who was bred up from foundation to be Black, and was referred to by Lester Laue as “the million dollar cow.”
LCL Revelation 550C
CCA#: 365783
Damsire: LCL Coaltown 303N
Revelation is a first-generation Black Charolais herdsire — the result of a meticulously planned mating designed to produce a new sire line (indeed, you will find White Charolais legend Wyoming Wind up close in his pedigree). He was part of our 2016 Denver Stock Show “Be a Part of History” display of three Black Charolais bulls, and he is having a dramatic effect on our program. He crosses perfectly with our Black Storm and Black Ice sire lines, especially through Battalion and Black Frost. Two sons are in use, and his daughters are highly productive, having already produced two additional herdsires for us.
LCL Reformation 141J
CCA#: 834475
Damsire: LCL Townsman 809U
Reformation is the first Revelation son we have retained, and the early results look promising. His pedigree also features the complete outcross sire Trigger, giving him added value in our Black program.
LCL Restoration 2149K
CCA#: 879613
Damsire: Black Storm 12A
Another son of Revelation, this one with an elite pedigree feature. Restoration’s dam is a full sister to LCL Battalion 613D, our leading Black herdsire. He will breed his first cows in 2024.
LCL Black Frost 8139F
CCA#: 785968
Damsire: LCL Gus 100L
Black Frost has a reputation for moderate birthweights combined with rapid weaning growth. He was retained as the best representative of the Black Ice sire line, an early Black outcross import from Canada. Black Frost’s prolific dam produced a second herdsire for us, LCL Perfect Storm 557C, a Denver display bull. This cow family traces to our original importations of dark red Charolais in 1994.
LCL Black Powder 1209J
CCA#: 844800
Damsire: LCL Revelation 550C
Black Powder is another first-generation Black Charolais herdsire, designed to create a seventh original sire line to complement our existing pedigrees. A phenotypically appealing bull, his first calves born in 2024 have already impressed us with their early flash. Watch for more from this high potential young prospect.
Current Red & White Herd Sires
WGB Outer Limits 801
AICA#: 911712
Damsire: AC Western Edge 2024
Outer Limits is an ET son of the wildly successful Outsider bull, and his dam was the sale topping female from the M&M dispersal. In the show ring, Outer Limits dominated as a two-year-old, winning Grand Champion at the Kansas and Nebraska state fairs, and Reserve Grand at the Kansas City American Royal, along with divisional wins at Louisville and the National Show in Oklahoma City. As a sire, he is producing functional, growthy, attractive calves that appeal to our commercial customers. His first daughters in production are promising as well.
SWR Diesel 1D
CCA#: 708512
Damsire: FFBB Red Buckle 16X
Diesel is our lead Red herdsire, with a reputation for moderate birthweights and classic Charolais growth. He has sons at work in multiple purebred herds, and we consider his daughters our finest young Red females. Plus, he sires Black on our purebred Black cows.
Tri-N Shooter 709E
CCA#: 733372
Damsire: SOS Crimson Tide 97S
Shooter has been the perfect complement to our Diesel daughters. And bred to outcross females, he has left us with two highly regarded junior herdsires. His sons are stout and impressive in their type while his daughters excel in femininity and milk production. He also sires Black with our Black females, including the up-and-coming LCL Black Powder 1209J.
LCL Rifleman 221K
CCA#: 850963
Damsire: JS Black Storm 12A
Rifleman was the standout Red bull calf from our 2022 crop. His first calves, born in 2024, validate his good looks and strong performance. He descends from the Alta cow family, one of our foundation Red female lines.
Red Resource (FFF Resource 2065)
AICA#: 957895
Damsire: TR Mr Firewater 5792
Red Resource was selected as a sale topper to insert some new and highly popular genetics into our Red program. An ET son of the leading sire Resource, out of a notorious donor cow, he traces to foundation Michaelis Ranch color genetics. From a color standpoint, he is quite versatile, siring everything from dark reds on our red females to traditional white on the white cowherd.
